Job Title: Audience development assistant

Organisation Summary:
Newcastle Contemporary Art (NCA) is a creative programme of exhibitions and events curated and managed by High Bridge CIC. This community interest company, established in 2021, is centred around a hub of studios for artists and creative businesses at High Bridge Works, NE1 1EW. Through the operation of this venue’s fourth floor gallery, we aim to engage with members of our immediate and wider community through exhibitions and events as well as providing an amazing space for you to hire. We advocate openness and inclusion with the aim of tackling inequalities in the region.
Vacancy Summary:
Newcastle Contemporary Art (NCA) is looking for highly motivated individual to support their initial research and development of a new associate members scheme aimed at developing relationships with partners, generating income, and growing their business.
The new associate members scheme will focus on working with arts and education institutions and will offer an education strand, community outreach and professional development programme that can sit alongside and compliment their core programme of exhibitions.
Role Description:
The graduate intern will have the opportunity to work with the NCA team to support their initial research and development of a new associate members scheme. In doing this work they will:
鈼� Apply their research kills to investigate examples of innovative practice in this area within the sector.
鈼� Build on their knowledge of audience development strategy to consider how to increase engagement of a more diverse range of patrons and expand access through this new scheme
鈼� Further their creative skills by ideating how the promotional strategy of this new scheme can be designed to ensure equal opportunities and diversity
Personal qualities and skills required to fulfil the role:
鈼� An interest in/or experience grassroots and/or community arts organisations.
鈼� Good Research Skills
鈼� Strong communication and presentation skills.
鈼� Strong understanding of communications strategy development in an arts and culture context.
鈼� Good understanding of audience development strategy.
鈼� Good understanding of the arts and culture sector and funding landscape in the UK.
This internship will be line managed by Toby Lloyd, with further support provided by the academic supervisor Nkumbu Mutambo
Location: Based at NCA with the possibility of Flexible working.
