Place and Partnerships

Northumbria is proud to be at the heart of our city, woven into the rich culture and heritage of Newcastle and the North-East region.

We have a strong civic history which we are keen to build upon. We are committed to playing our part in the future of our place by working together as a community with our partners contributing and shaping the region’s economic and societal development.

Through our role in place we will continue our transformative impact on the city of Newcastle and the wider North-East region through:

  • our civic role as an anchor institution supporting inclusive economic growth and helping to address inequalities in the region
  • our research expertise and how it can inform policy, business and practice across all sectors
  • our role in unlocking potential for talented students from all backgrounds and supporting them with skills and knowledge to succeed at university and in their future careers
  • our role as a large employer
