A Sandpit on Recycling of EV Batteries for a Vibrant and Circular Economy in the UK

4th and 5th June 2024, 9am - 5pm

This two day event aims to kick-start a community for research and influence the Electric Vehicle Battery Circularity via an inaugural “sandpit” event. It will involve bringing together industry and academic experts along with policy makers to deliver a roadmap to a community of excellence, practice and research grants in this area.

The session will compromise of the following key outcomes:

  • Establish a long term multi-disciplinary community of collaboration – to expedite fast and effective networking of specialists across sectors together to share their knowledge and consider fresh angles for battery recycling research.
  • Design of creative research proposals - use this community to develop original research ideas and proposals relating to battery recycling, sustainability, and the circular economy. Understanding the importance hierarchy for re-purposing batteries (safety, environmental, other?)
  • Cooperative research alliances – to have experts work together to strengthen joint research ideas and aggressively seek targeted research funding.
