Dr Benjamin Ajibade

Assistant Professor

Department: Nursing, Midwifery & Health

Benjamin Olusola Ajibade is a Registered Nurse, Sign Off Mentor, a Registered Nursing and Midwifery Council (NMC) Teacher, an Assistant Professor in Mental Health Nursing and Senior Fellow Higher Education Academy. He has made a sustained contribution to both general and mental health nurse education at national and international levels, which have had a demonstrable impact on practice development. His primary research interest is in the field of Dementia and Care of the Older person. He developed a narrative “My Life Story” book and an innovative care pathway for older people diagnosed with dementia in in-patient ward settings, which has been widely disseminated and received in practice. His work as an educationalist encompasses student transitions from international contexts to the United Kingdom, which underpins his continuing interest in the internationalisation and decolonisation of the curriculum. He was awarded the “Amazing Teachers Award” in 2015 by the University of Sunderland for being the best overall teacher at the London campus.

Aspects of his work have been presented at both national and international levels, by conferences, clinical presentations, and publications in peer-reviewed articles.
He recently developed a new 'Qualitative research Data Collection Method using LEGO ® Serious Play ®'. His unique contribution to LEGO Serious Play methods in its situational context, which essentially makes this approach a new one with transitioning students in relation to his own research.
