2025/26 Postgraduate Research Fees Information for UK Applicants 

This information is for students applying to study at 51±¬ΑΟ in the academic year 2025/26.

Please note - A standard Full-Time course is 3 years, a standard Part-Time course is 5 years.

Band Details for PhD and MPhil Programmes

Band 1

Applies to PGR projects that can be completed within standard University-wide PGR resource provision.

Band 2

Typically applies to primarily desk-based PGR projects with modest requirements beyond standard University-wide PGR resource provision.*

Band 3

Applies to PGR projects with project-related requirements as identified for Band 2 and typically also including intensive fieldwork, or intensive access to specialist facilities such as laboratories, studios and associated specialist equipment, software and consumables.

£8,280

£4,968

Band 4 

Shares the typical costs of Bands 2 & 3 and also includes access to premium facilities and/ or consumables.
